ChadSan in the Spotlight - Hugh Mitchell

1) What got you in accounting?

I have done some acting in the past and found that other than having an agent there is not a lot you can do proactively to keep getting work. I decided I wanted a change and have something to work towards. I then got a job in the finance department of an opticians and started working towards building my career by doing an AAT qualification and moving on to an ACA qualification.

2) What do you find challenging in your role as a Client Manager at Chaddesley Sanford?

I think it's the juggling and multitasking. Luckily I have great colleagues that can I can always ask for help or advice.

3) What is your favourite part of your job?

The variety of clients and people I help on a daily basis. There is always something new to work on and the job is never repetitive.

4) How has your experience as an actor helped you as an accountant?

I can put myself in other peoples place quite easily and empathise. When I was acting I did all of my own tax returns which wasn't easy, there was a lot of jargon that I didn't know so my experience in learning scripts helped me when doing research in accounting.

5) What advice would you give your client directors?

Simply don't hesitate to ask! If there is anything you are not sure about regarding your accounts or business pick up the phone and give us a call.

Bonus) What are your hobbies?

I am a keen photographer and I have produced some music which has been featured on the Chaddesley Sanford tutorial videos!
